WELCOME TO Holly CLASS

Welcome to Holly Class! We are a KS1 class of 11 pupils who have opportunities to learn through a variety of creative ways, with a focus on fun! The children’s learning is supported through a variety of creative, sensory experiences and motivating resources including Attention Autism, sensory stories and Numicon. We promote and support the children’s communication skills, through a total communication approach in the classroom, including the use of Makaton, symbols and objects of reference.
The Holly team are:
- Rachel (Class Teacher)
- Aimee (HLTA: Mon am (every other week), Thurs am)
- Emily
- Sam
- Lucy (M, T)
- Amy (W, Th, F)
This half term, our class theme will be ‘Music Man’ and our focus text is 'The Bear and the Piano' By David Litchfield.
Our Coastal learners will be provided with opportunities to engage in a range of activities to support their development of skills such as anticipation, participation, communication of preferences, intentional choices and making requests.
Pupils on our Countryside pathway will enjoy developing their skills in communication, social interactions, number, understanding of the world, independence and self-help skills. They will be provided with opportunities to master these skills and transfer them to different contexts through learning centred around our theme ‘Music Man’.
In addition, we have several exciting activities planned across the term, including: light room sessions, outdoor learning, access to the magic carpet as well as educational visits.
This half term we will be swimming on Tuesday mornings.
Please see our class timetable for more information.
Reading in Holly class involves practising early reading skills through sharing and enjoying stories and books together. This promotes the children’s imagination, their curiosity for the world they live in, supports their communication skills and is great fun! We provide daily opportunities to read within school to nurture a love of reading. Pupils will also participate in daily streamed phonics sessions to support their independent reading.
Our home learning includes Rhino Readers for pupils who are currently learning Level 2 and Level 3 phonics. There are also weekly tasks on Evisense that you can do at home, we would love to see pupil's engagement. Please ask if you have any questions.
Thank you for visiting Holly’s Class page! In Holly, we enjoy capturing evidence of our learning through Evisense. Please check your child’s page to see what we have been doing, and please share what you get up to at home.
